 Happy Monday Everyone,
My life lately has been excitedly busy and fun.  I have really embodied the quote by Andy Warhol, "they say time changes things, but you  actually have to change them yourself". And since its Monday, I thought i would start a motivational quote to get in a good mindset to be proactive, and productive this week. Last week,  I made a decision that I was going to be open and meet new people and make new friends. And  when I did a whole new world opened up to me. When you ask, you shall receive, changing your actions brings new things into your life. This is what I wore when to a blogger brunch yesterday! I had so much fun chatting and connecting with other bloggers in the area, it was a great way to spend my Sunday Afternoon. You could see more pics on my Instagram as well.  This week, I will be recapping all the highlights of what's been happening and the amazing life lessons I am taking with me from now on. So please stay tuned!

Hello Everyone, Happy Friday to You!
It has been quite a week, I have attend so many fun events and met some very cool fashion bloggers in the Washington DC area. I can't wait to share more details about my adventures next week. But for now, I thought I would revisit an outfit I wore earlier this year in early Spring for in honor of  #Flashback Friday. The beauty of revisiting this outfit is that it could also work in the fall. This look could be worn at a networking party to a girls night out, to a first date. If you prefer video to photos, I have made a mini outfit of the day video for your viewing pleasure. Have a great weekend!

Fall Favorites from Autumns Past!

Hello Everyone, Happy Throwback Thursday!
A few mornings ago, I woke up and suddenly felt the cooler breeze of fall as I rolled out of bed in my Summer PJs. Its hard to believe that Summer is gone, and fall is here and its the first time I realized that things once again things are changing. So as I began getting for the day. I found myself struggling to remember how to dress for this fall transition. I began to think about last fall and the outfits I styled on my blog hoping to get inspired. Fall is one of the hardest seasons to dress for and looking for inspirations in magazines, pinterest, blogs are a great way to get inspired to recreate your own version of fall weather outfits. As I browsed through blogs, style websites and magazines I noticed three principles of fall weather dressing that could be helpful to me and you. And what a better way than share it on a Throwback Thursday. They are layering,  embracing neutral palettes and classics and fall casual weekend wear. So I dedicate this blog post to my favorite fall looks from seasons past. Each outfit could definitely work this season as well.

When You're Built to be Tall, Wear a Black Maxi Dress!

Outfit Details: Maxi Dress: Nordstrom | Statement Necklace: Vintage | Heels: Zara | Sunglasses: Nordstrom | Purse: Forever 21| Nail Color: Essie-Blanc | Lip Color: Bare Essentials DareDevil Lip Gloss |

Hello Everyone, Happy Monday!
I was watching Oprah's life class with T.D Jakes last night, and all i have to say that it was thought provoking and so so true. Towards the end of the program, T.D Jakes said this, " When You are Built to be Tall, you will endanger your position if you lower your perspective." Wow Right! Such a powerful statement and life lesson rolled up in one. Its motivation to always follow your instincts and no letting anyone distracted you from the vision God has placed in your heart. Isn't that something. It made me think of all the ways I have lowered my perspective to blend in, be part of the crowd, wearing clothes and shoes that keep me as normal as possible. But thats not my destiny, I am tall because God has a plan for me that is uniquely for my beautiful tall self. So when I saw this black  maxi dress with back detailing at a Nordstrom Sale, I knew instinctively that it had to be mine. Because it fits just right, it embraces my height, my shape, and it helps me stand tall and keep my head up. Seeing things from my perspective and position.

What are some ways you stay motivated on your dreams?

Hello Everyone, Happy Monday!
First, I am so thankful to see another beautiful Monday and I am hopeful that it is a productive and enjoyable week. When planning outfits sometimes the ideas come in the middle of the night for the blog photoshoot. This inspires and challenges me to constantly improve my personal style and see what it could become. This dress is meant to stand out and blend in at the same time. I guess we can call it a neutral pattern that is perfect to start a Monday and a productive week.

Karen Walker Visible Collection

Hello Everyone, Happy Saturday!
I stumbled upon this Visible Sunglasses Collection by Karen Walker (shop the collection here) earlier this year, and I have been waiting for the right time to share it with all of you. It inspires me to learn more about my African heritage when I see special collections like these that benefits the artisans in small villages and towns in various countries around the continent. With each purchase of sunglasses, the proceeds go to the  Ethical Fashion Initiative. I love the visually appealing photographs and each person wearing each pair of sunglasses tells a story like no one else can. Each beautiful moment was captured by the famous photographer, Derek Henderson and each story that can only be heard through his or her words and the colorful language and twists that makes his/her story a journey of life uniquely different and special. It inspires me to dig deeper into my own family history and heritage and hopefully create with meaningful purpose and drive that brings out the essence of who I am supposed to be all along. May these pictures also inspire you to appreciate the beauty in every single photograph of this visible campaign. Please do enjoy!

Back to School Lookbook by styledbykesha featuring leopard flats

Hello Everyone, Happy Thursday!
Since the school year has officially begun, and I have been missing going to school lately I thought I would create five outfits for a week's worth of classes! When it comes to school, I like to wear wardrobe staples in the fall, such as black skinny jeans and  a chambray shirt. When styling these pieces it is so simple to pair black skinny jeans with a white tee and a pair of leopard ballets and each morning there is very little effort when you have your studies to think about but big on style with adding a few other pieces, accessories and jewelry  make each outfit different and chic.
