Four Outfits For July 4th

Happy Independence Day!

Hello Friends, Happy July!

I'm so happy to be blogging again! It is fun to get back to being creative and creating content that I am passionate about and want to invest my time in again. I'm writing this on July 4th of all days. Pursuing a dream that you have in this country is possible because of all the people who sacrificed so that I can dream something and make it happen. For this I am truly grateful!

So I decided to write because I know I need to just start! Thinking about what you want to do won't get you anywhere. I learned that when you start something anything the action propels you to move and your consistency allows you to create a process or a system and that helps you get closer to the destination you have always intended.

As I reflect on 8 years since I first started my blog. I think about my goals I had for it back then and what I want it to become now. However, one thing remains, I always want to inspire confidence in your personal style, help you build a wardrobe that serves your life and gives you endless ideas, style inspiration, tips, tricks that make everyday styling a whole lot simpler and easier.

So.. here are 4 outfits I have worn that are so red, white, and blue! You can wear them anywhere, the cookout, sightseeing, or even just watching the fireworks at night. They are all classic, dressy and trendy all at once.

8 Style Resolutions

Hello Friends, Happy 2018!

As a new year begins I always think of the way I can refresh my personal style and give it new life and inspiration. I hope that I creatively evolve my fashion sense, develop my personal style and embrace my african heritage confidently. As we have started a new season,  I wanted to share the 8 style resolutions for this year. I started this series three years ago with my 5 style resolutions and how I did at the end of the year with 5 style resolutions update

Build a Capsule Wardrobe
I have been fascinated with the capsule wardrobe idea for the past year now. A capsule wardrobe is a mini wardrobe made up of versatile staple pieces that create personalized outfits that you love to wear. Since I have discovered and now know my personal style. as the new year quickly approaching I thought it would be a perfect time to start. I will be following the advice from the blogger Caroline Rector and her website it will show and teach step by step how to create a capsule wardrobe I know I will love.

Try a Monochromatic/Minimalist Style
I have always been interested in wearing, all black, all gray, all white outfits. It will push my style to a whole new level. So I will research, find inspiration and grow my creativity to push my personal style further with monochromatic/minimalist style trends.

Buy Investment Pieces
I want to buy and support more contemporary African Designers. I will also get better quality wardrobe essentials and classic pieces.  Investing in my wardrobe will help me create the style I have always wanted.  in these collections will eventually be seen on the blog and it will teach me to be careful and thoughtful when buying luxury items.

Build a Signature Color Palate
Choosing the colors that will bring the vibe and personality to my wardrobe. I will do a color analysis to see what colors work best for my skin tone and create a color palate that compliments me.

Get a Beauty Routine (skin care, makeup & hair care)
I have learned the power of living a healthy life to improve my skin and keep my hair strong and growing. I would also want to learn how to great beauty for special or important occasions that will get be a polished signature look.

Collect Signature Statement Accessories
I absolutely enjoy and collect African jewelry and accessories. I will resolve to build a collection that can be added to each outfit that i style and is seamless to my personality. See this blog post: African Accessories- will update soon)

Build a Stylish Shoe Collection
I have been building a collection that can carry from season to season and to each year. I realize that shoes are important to any outfit and having a collection of basics, unique ones can be so much fun. (See my summer shoe | summer shoe part 2 | winter boots )

Be a better Thrift shopper

3 ways to wear white converse

3 Ways to Wear Converse

Hello Friends, Happy Tuesday!
Welcome back to my style blog! It feels good to be back and explore my creativity all over again. Summer is the perfect time to wear white converse and I have been discovering many different ways to wear it as I have been exploring a more casual outfit wardrobe this season. Here are three fun ways to wear the classic pair of white converse that I think is essential in any stylish wardrobe.

Wear it with a floral dress

When you style a floral dress that is usually paired with flat sandals or heels gives you a unique sense of style and surprise outfit combination that is eclectic all on its own. Wear this outfit on a girl's day out exploring the city.

Wear it with bright color pants

Wearing White Converse and pairing it with bright red color pants gives this outfit a very patriotic 4th of July vibe look that I think exemplifies the classic American style and celebrates the country as a united one. Any holiday or watching an outdoor movie on the lawn.

Wear it with a cotton tank dress

When I wear white converse with a classic tank dress I definitely feel like the coolest girl on the neighborhood block. It shows you can be casual and sexy at the same time. I would definitely wear this to a barbecue, concert or picnic at the park.
